Herold M. Harter
With
the incorporation, National Headquarters was established permanently
in Toledo under the leadership and guidance of National Secretary
Harold M. Harter 1884-1965, who was to guide the growth and
achievements of Exchange for 44 years. Mr. Harter came to be known
as "Mr. Exchange" and the dean of service club secretaries. In his
travels throughout the nation, he won the admiration and esteem of
business and professional people everywhere. During his 44 years as
national secretary, the influence of Mr. Harter on the growth and
development of Exchange was profoundly, more than any other
individual, was responsible for the emergence of Exchange as a major
national service organization.
