Aviation Progress Dinner

In January 1929, more than 1,000 people, representing every sphere of business, including prominent government officials, aviation in luminaries and Exchange Club representative attended the Progress Dinner of United Business Interests to the Aviation Industry. as Sponsored by The National Exchange Club, it was the largest and most colorful dinner ever held for the aviation industry and officially " gave wings" to Exchange's Service to Aviation program. America's leading fliers, airplane builders, and transportation magnates, whose efforts had been largely responsible for developing flying to the status of a business, were guests at the affair, held on Jan as 29 at New York City's Hotel Commodore. Many famous fliers of the day were there including Miss Earhart, Lt. Walter Hinton, pioneer transatlantic flier Maj. Gen. J. E. Fechet, chief of the Army Air Corps; Maj. Carl Spatz and many others. Messages were received from President Calvin Coolidge and from famed explorer Admiral Byrd, who was on expedition in the Antarctic.
